Now, now, the initial release date of the film was set to the 2nd of April 2020, but we all know what went wrong there. The whole world was swallowed by the pandemic created by the fatal Corona Virus that forced everyone to get under a potential lockdown. Uppena – What is the plot?
As for the tale of Uppena about which everyone seemed to be talking about, it is a classic love story that feels straight out of a Shakespeare play. The timeline of the tale is set in 2002 where Raayanam is a zamindar who is shown to opt for any sort of extent in order to save the honor of his name and family. But the person whom he protects most fondly is Sangeetha, his daughter who is lovingly called Bebamma by her colleagues. She is a student in college and a kind person. Now, we see that Raayanam is planning to extend his business in the trading of fishes by building a shipping yard in the village and placing all the fishermen onto the coast. Now, we see that Aasi is a son of a son of the fishermen Jalayya who is being helped by Rayaanam and is also a Christian but belongs to a lower caste. This is the turning point in the story when Aasi falls madly in love with Bebamma and can do anything to be with her. Bebamma also starts liking Aasi after he puts on a show in the middle of the bazaar. This is where their romance starts as Aasi leaves every work of his just to follow Bebamma to college and then, the two would spend time together on the beach. To their horror, the young couple falls in love with each other. But we know how Bebamma’s father is the main antagonist of the story and would never let his daughter marry someone from the lower caste. This is why the story gets even more intriguing to watch as we see Aasi and Bebamma elope with each other and run away.
